CONTEXT

Cross-border programming in Southern Africa requires nuanced understanding of gender dynamics, social structures, and equity considerations that vary significantly across national and community contexts.

MY ROLE

Gender Assessment Co-Lead — shared lead responsibility for research design, fieldwork, and findings delivery.

APPROACH & KEY ACTIVITIES

• Co-designed the GEDSI assessment framework and data collection tools

• Conducted a comprehensive literature review of gender dynamics, livelihoods, and social inclusion in the cross-border region

• Led key informant interviews with community members, programme stakeholders, and local organisations

• Applied GEDSI analysis frameworks to surface structural barriers and equity considerations

• Delivered all research findings in Portuguese

OUTCOME

Produced a GEDSI assessment report in Portuguese providing actionable recommendations for programme design and implementation in the Mozambique–Tanzania borderlands context.
