CONTEXT

Effective programme design requires a rigorous understanding of the existing evidence base and how thinking in a field has evolved over time. This literature review provided the conceptual foundation for a new livelihoods programme.

MY ROLE

Lead Evaluator — responsible for research design, literature synthesis, and KII facilitation.

APPROACH & KEY ACTIVITIES

• Led a comprehensive literature review of livelihoods frameworks, approaches, and evidence from the development sector

• Mapped the evolution of livelihoods thinking over time, identifying key trends, debates, and emerging approaches

• Conducted key informant interviews with practitioners and sector experts to complement documentary evidence

• Synthesised findings into a conceptual framework to guide programme design

OUTCOME

Delivered a livelihoods literature review and conceptual framework that provided the evidence base and strategic framing for programme design.
